UGC NET for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor

UGC NET

UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is a computer-based examination conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). The exam is mandatory for entrants who wish to be lecturer at university and college level or for a JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) program.

Amendments In The Examination:
  • The exam is of 3 hours
  • Paper 1 comprises of 50 questions 100 marks
  • Paper 2 comprises of 100 questions 200 marks
  • Will be conducted one after the other simultaneously

Mode Of Paper: CBT (Computer Based Test)

Type Of Paper: Objective type questioms

Eligibility Criterion:

Candidate should have secured at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST, OBC- NCL, PwD) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from a university recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc.are eligible for UGC NET 2019.

Candidates in the final year of their master’s program are also eligible.

Qualifying Criterion:
  • The exam is held twice in a year
  • UGC NET qualifying cut off marks for General category is 40% in Paper I and II while the qualifying marks for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Transgender categories is 35% in Paper I and II.
Important Dates:
  • Online Application Processing: 01/03/19 - 30/03/19
  • Application Correction Window: 07/04/19 – 14/03/19
  • Admit Card: MAY
  • UGC NET Exam: 20/06/19 – 21/06/19
  •                               24/06/19 – 28/06/19
  • Results: Mid-July (Tentative)
