The first phase is known Prelims:
Civil Prelims comprises of two papers:
General Studies Paper 1 and General Studies Paper 2
General Studies Paper I deal with the subjects like History, Polity, Geography and Economics.
General Studies Paper II deal with the subjects like General English and Mental Ability (Reasoning and Mathematics).
This Civil Service Exam is held in June and the openings are available in the month of February. These entrances are conducted annually by the government of India.
The second phase is known as mains:
The mains examination consists of two papers:
Paper A and Paper B
It is mandatory to clear paper A. The paper A consists of Comprehension of the given passage, precis writing, grammar, vocabulary and short essay writing. If the candidate passes the paper A then he or she is allowed to attempt paper B. The marks are not counted in paper B. It is essential to qualify paper B.
After qualifying the above two phases the third phase is the face to face interview which is mostly conducted in the month of March and April.
