The Government of India has announced internship opportunities at its departments and affiliated bodies such as the NITI Aayog, and DigiLocker. An internship with a government department or body exposes you to a dynamic work environment that can be really helpful in building a successful career afterwards. These internship opportunities will allow students to utilize their leisure time and engage in productive activities. After the completion of the internship, the interns will receive a certificate as well as a stipend (variable with internships).

As per the latest updates, the following internships are being offered by the GOI and its affiliated bodies. Here is a list of all the available internships.

DigiLocker

Internships are available for students from a variety of professions at the Indian government’s digital project, DigiLocker. According to the official guidelines, the intern must be flexible and complete the assigned task on time. Internships are available in both development and operations (for example, Product Management, UI UX Development, Front End Development, Database Management, Blockchain, and so on), along with security researcher/testing, content writer, front-end development, UI/UX, graphic designer, product management, blockchain, database management, and IOS development, with availability determined by company needs throughout each internship term.

The internship period will last for a minimum duration of 6 months. Students must note that this will be an unpaid internship, although, upon successful completion, interns will receive an internship certificate. The internship will be on a work-from-home basis.

National Museum Of India

Students in graduate and undergraduate programs at any institution willing to conduct research on the collection, learn about museum procedures, and gain professional skills can apply for research-oriented internships at the National Museum. Among the departments are Anthropology, Central Asian Antiquities, Archaeology, Conservation, Arms and Armours, Display, Education, Exhibition, Library, Manuscripts, Outreach, Modeling, Numismatics, Painting, Pre-Columbian Western Arts, Photography, and Prehistoric Archaeology.

The internships will be held for a minimum period of 6 weeks, up to 12 weeks. Although applications for the summer internships are over, students will be able to apply for the winter internships before the deadline on November 30, 2022.

Summer Internship

The programme offers internship in the summer months of

May, June and July.

The applicant may choose one of the following time period

6 weeks 9 weeks 12 weeks

The last date of receiving applications for Summer Internship is 10th March every year

Winter Internship

The programme offers internship in the winter months of

December, January and February.

The applicant may choose one of the following time period

6 weeks 9 weeks 12 weeks

The last date of receiving applications for Winter Internship is 30th November every year

NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog is the policy think tank of the Government of India. Undergraduate/postgraduate students and research scholars enrolled in recognized Indian and international universities/institutions are eligible to apply for the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme. This internship will offer students opportunities in a wide range of fields, including agriculture, data management and analysis, economics, education, human resource development, the energy sector, foreign trade/commerce, mining, tourism, sports, and youth development, among others.

Although the internship is unpaid, students will find the internship a productive experience for their future. The internship will last for a minimum period of six weeks and a maximum period of six months. Those who do not finish their internships within the agreed-upon time frame will not be awarded a certificate of experience. The online application link is available from the 1st to the 10th day of every month.
